Might I suggest "The Day The Universe Changed" by James Burke. It's all about how we impose system on a chaotic universe, and how everytime something we know changes, the whole body of knowledge changes with it. Excellent reading.

Sun Tzu's "Art of War" is excellent reading..

I also suggest Lao Tsu's "Tao Te Ching". Also I forget the name of the author, but if you are into conspiracies read "Behold the Pale Horseman". All knowledge is useful, remember Knowledge is Power. I've gone to the limits of reading things from Alester Crawley's "Necronomicon" to Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kompf".

Further samurai wisdom to be found in The Hagakure by Yamamoto Tsunetomo and The Book Of Five Rings by the one and only Miyamoto Musashi

"Love of the music should be the driving force of any producer,
performer or DJ. Everything else stems from that core, that love.
With that love, sampling can become a tribute; An expansion on
ideas long forgotten, reconstruction, collage. Using the same
understanding openly and respectfully can turn DJing into a
spiritual participation. It can turn a few hours of selection into
essential history; Necessary listening through movement."

Although having said that, I think The Hagakure widely misunderstood. People consider it a work of philosophy, when to tell the truth it's a samurai manual on how to live properly. It provided advice on everything, ranging from the necessary mindset of a true samurai to how to put your face-paint on in the morning. I think it's more of a fascinating historical artefact than a body of wisdom, although of course it does contain that. The Book Of Five Rings on the other hand is a battle manual. Miyamoto Musashi was never defeated in combat, even when using nothing but a wooden stick against many armed swordsmen, so I think his advice is worth trusting, haha.[
